Pre Owned Pumps, Dispensers and Consoles
Equipment that is a few years old can often be obtained at half price or less, this is the best way to allow you to equip your islands for the lowest possible initial cost. You can buy a used pump or dispenser for as little as 25% of the cost new, depending on age. The availability is nationwide from major dealers, and is regionally and locally available from smaller companies, and locally from new equipment distributors.
The main risks for the buyer in buying used equipment.
One of the risks of buying used equipment is the availability of the equipment being offered. So many brokers are independent operators with little or no inventory. You will discover that most of these people operate out of their homes. Therefore, they are selling equipment that they have not seen, and in some cases, it is equipment that they have not even purchased yet. J.P. Sales stores, in their warehouse, at least 95% of the equipment we sell. We can, and will, send you pictures and serial numbers of the equipment that you wish to purchase.
Another risk in purchasing used equipment is the condition. J.P. Sales will warrant that the equipment is in good physical condition, though it is impossible to be certain, just by looking at the equipment, whether the internal mechanical and electrical components are operational.
As in most business transactions, a used equipment buyer can only evaluate his risk by considering both the price of the offered equipment and the reputation of the seller.
It is important the buyer is very clear about the configuration of used equipment
This is very simple with the older mechanical units, you just need to make sure that preset valves and electronic pulsars are installed, if you require them. With the newer equipment this will involve determining specific software that has been installed. If the seller does not have the unit in inventory, these issues can be very difficult to deal with, as it cannot be easily checked for the absence or presence of features. Our suggestion is that you only purchase used equipment, assuming that it will require some work before it is operational.
Please keep in mind, that if you are prepared to spend several hundred dollars on each unit, you will have much fewer disappointments.
We tend to find that end-user customers who do not routinely do their own maintenance or installation are usually un-happy with used equipment, therefore, it is not our recommendation that they buy used. We do have tested or rebuilt equipment for these customers. However, we do recommend used equipment for distributors and maintenance companies, as they have the parts and expertise to get your used pump, or dispenser operational and generating revenue.
We would be more than happy to recommend a qualified installation, or Service Company in your area, if you would like to save money by buying used equipment.
We must point out that any replacement parts must be bought from us, and that you must return all defective parts to us so that we can then issue warranty credits. In some cases we will authorize you to obtain your parts from others, but you must receive this authorization in writing from J.P. Sales, or we will be forced to refuse your claim.
The original parts must be returned to us prepaid for us to issue warranty credit. Please note that our parts are marked and serialized for identification.
